Octoberfest Activities This Weekend!

Plenty of activities are planned for this weekend in Sea Isle City:

Halloween Parade is set for 7:30 pm, Friday, October 24th at 46th and Landis, north to JFK Boulevard.  Rain date is noon Sunday, Oct. 26th.  Registration was due Friday, Oct. 17th.  Free family dance party afterwards on the promenade. 

Skate Jam Skateboarding Contest on Saturday, October 25th at Dealy Field Skatepark.

Octoberfest will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 25th along the promenade at JFK Boulevard.  It will be held rain or shine and will consist of many family activities including free hayrides on the beach and live music.  Free activities include a giant moon bounce and obstacle course, face painting and balloon creations.  Also, pony rides, pumpkin painting and a family treasure hunt is planned.  A costume contest is planned, during which adults and children can win prizes for the best Halloween and Bavarian outfits.  There will also be educational displays, a sand sculpting demonstration at noon and dance party from 1-4 pm.  A pie-baking contest is planned with the winners of the best homemade apple or pumpkin pies receiving blue ribbons.  Entrants can drop off their pies from noon to 2:30 pm on the day of the event at Vince’s Restaurant, JFK Blvd and Pleasure Ave.  To enter the contest, download an application at www.seaislecitynj.us - entry forms must be received by Thursday, Oct. 23rd.  For more information, call 263-8847.

A German beer garden will be open from 2-6 pm next to the promenade at 38th Street under a giant tent.  Admission is $15 per person, which includes a free beer mug and live music!

Italian Festival Saturday, October 11th

The city will hold an Italian Festival at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Kix-McNutley’s, 63rd Street and Landis Avenue.  It coincides with the Columbus Day Parade set for 2 p.m. in front of the Italian American Club on JFK Boulevard. 

From the bridge area, the parade will continue toward Landis Avenue, where it will head south until it ends at the festival.

There will be live music, a children’s area with activities and many vendors.  Jerry Blavat will entertain rock n roll fans.

Stranded True’s whale on Avalon’s 32nd Street beach yesterday
